The Fourteenth Year

Royal Household Spring Progress -- Province of Golden Rivers
April 26-27, AS XIV (1980)

From The Page (April, 1980):

Preparations are underway, the castle is under reconstruction, the grounds are being spruced up, the menu is planned, the food is being prepared.

The grounds will be opened Friday evening April 25, for those wishing to set up early. The fighting lists will close at 11:30 A.M. Saturday April 26. Fighting begins promptly at 12 noon. All combatants are being asked to bring a Prize as an entry fee, such as a six-pack of beer, a bottle of wine, a salami or anything you wish of similar value, not necessarily food or drink. Each participant will have a card listing his prize hung 'round his neck, if he wins his contest he wins his opponent's prize and card, if he loses he forfeits his prize, until at the end one combatant may end up with all the prizes.

The Roast Lamb Banquet will be served at 3:30 P.M. Saturday afternoon. There will be an alternative roast for those who just don't like lamb. We are asking a $3.00 contribution to cover food costs of the banquet and necessary sanitary facilities. It is necessary to ask you to send your check for $3.00 made out to "The Principality of Cynagua" (details omitted).

Please bring sufficient foods for all other meals for the weekend. Kitchen and dining facilities will be provided in one area, so that we can have community meals. Cook stoves and pots and pans will not be necessary to bring.

Space will be limited for parking and pavilion setup, so we request you consolidate vehicles and double up on room for sleeping in pavilions wherever possible. All activities are planned for outdoors.

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
