There will be a one-day belly dancing seminar sponsored by the University of Ithra on Saturday, July 8. Classes include Beginning Dance, Advanced Ethnic Steps and Balancing, Music and Finger Symbals, Veilwork, Floorwork, and Costuming. Classes will be held from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM. After diner and a show at the site, a belly dancing revel will be held at the home of Duchess Carol of Bellatrix in Campbell. Dinner (not included in the registration fee) will be at approximately 7:30; the show will be at 8:30; and the revel at 10:00. A special program of video instruction for advanced students will be held on Sunday, July 9, at a site to be announced.
Registration costs are for materials and equipment, and for defraying travel expenses. Instructors are giving their services free. All students are encouraged to bring costumes, Middle Eastern instruments, and any dance accessories such as scimitars, canes, etc. Students MUST have finger symbals, veil, and blanket or rug (for floorwork).
