From The Page (November, 1978):
Warlord Tournament will be November 4 in Pear Grove in Briones Park. This will be the second of the Mists Warlord Tournament[s]. Court will begin at 10:30 am; lists at 12:30.
Tentatively, the same rules used for the first Warlord Tournament will also be used for this one. This includes the rule that no one who has been King or Prince may compete for the title of Warlord of the Mists. This rule's raison d'etre is to encourage the less experienced fighters of the Principality. It is, however, subject to further review and possible change, especially if too few of said fighters are sufficiently encouraged to show up.
Noncombatant games and thespian entertainment are also scheduled, for those who don't use swords at all. This will NOT be an overnight touranment.
TO GET THERE, (directions omitted).
For further details, communicate with your local or Principality seneschal (addresses on inside back cover).
From The Page (January, 1979):
A fair warm morning on November 4 saw a group of early arrivals at Briones Park, Contra Costa County, CA. Once pavilions were up, two brave people were dragooned into testing a game from Meridies know as "Bells and Pillows". This involves two blindfolded and belled fighters armed with pillows and it takes place in as much silence as can be mustered by the hysterical spectators. After the first match, Lady Deporadh of Rannoch was challenged to a bout by her lord, Master Däwd von Markheim for that she had introduced the game. He was clearly on the side of Right. Truth, and Justice, for he won. After that, there was no lack of participants. Later Sir Lorin sur la Roche drew out some corridors and pits with flour and initiated a series of dungeon games with boffers. In one of them Sir Lorin's Lady of the Mists, Hilary of Serendip figured as Queen of the Orcs but no one thought she was type-cast.
Later double elimination lists for the title of Warlord of the Mists were won by Sir Christopher of Hoghton. Concurrently, there was a series of jeu-de-boule matches with three winning teams, including Their Majesties James and Verena. Each winning team received an enormous pumpkin donated by James the Fisher.
At court His Highess, Sir Steven MacEanruig, invested Sir Christopher with the title of Warlord and he in turn crowned Ana Moonstar as his Lady of the Mists. An impromptu revel was held at the home of Mariposa de la Montoya and games, revelry, and feasting continued into the night.
