From The Page (July, 1978):
On the 29th of July, the Baron and Baroness of Madrone and the Baron and Baroness of Lion's Gate will select the next Sergeants at Arms. The Tournament will be held at Gasworks Park in Madrone (Seattle, WA). In addition to the grand melee between the applicants and the belted fighters and Sergeants at Arms, there will be dancing, games, and other forms of amusement. Non-applications should have a chance to make challenges and engage in melees.

The applicants for the title of Sergeant at Arms will be judged in fighting ability and knowledge, heraldry, games (especially chess and nine-man's morris), courtly behavior, dancing, music or literature, and the sciences and crafts. Applications must be written to the Baroness of Madrone/Baroness of Lions Gate in a medieval script by the application, and given to her no later than July 22. No applications will be accepted after that date.
