The Thirteenth Year

All Hallows Eve -- Shire of Eskalya
October 28, 1978 (AS XIII)

From The Page (October, 1978):

Hans the Horrible and Jenyvr wish to make formal announcement that they will host a feast and revel in celebration of All Hallow's Eve, on October 28. Hopeably, this event will be at MAC Chalet on Elmendorf AFB. It will be an all night revel, and the gods befriend the Eskalyan who watches not the night with us -- he who sleeps on Samhain risks the ill of those spirits which do then come forth.

At the suggestion of Marya Nordama and Ragnar the Rogue, who plan to attend as Norn and Odin and in these guises relate the significance which Samhein has for them, others are encouraged also to come to this feasting with knowledge to share of the meaning of All Hallows' to their personae. If this proves fruitful and with permission of those who participate, the whole may be compiled and submitted to TOURNAMENTS ILLUMINATED. Therefore, everyone is encouraged to participate.

There will be a harvest meal of hearty soup and roasted giant pheasant with beverages at a cost of $2 per person ($1 per small). Food competitions are for breads, preserves, vegetables, and desserts, all robust. It is requested that you bring a dish in one of these categories whether you are entering a competition or not.

Two bardic circles will be held: early and light followed later, in the dark, by a scarey and blood freezing bardic circle. Competitions will include: shrieking, grunting, groaning, gasping, moaning, witch's cackle, insane laughter, most afraid, and most frightening. Also dancing and revelry will fill the night.

In deference to the gods, please do not bring weapons. For further information, communicate with the Eskalya Seneschal, Jenvur (contact info omitted).

Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
