From The Page (March, 1979):
The College of Equestrian Arts rides again! on March 3 and 4 for a grand tournament and trail ride in the Five-Mile area of Bidwell Park, five minutes from downtown Chico. The site has flush toilets, running water, a bardic circle, archery range, lovely campbround (no fee), and 26 miles of maintained riding trails. Scenery includes the site of the grand battle between Robin's Merry Men (Errol Flynn vintage) and the evil Sheriff of Nottingham.
Set-up begins Saturday at 8 am, followed by ring tilting, a ribbon race, quintain practice, archery competition, and Behead the Saracen. There will be beginning level events for new riders and a cross-country course is available for enthusiasts. Sunday's activities include a trail ride, quintain and ring practice, and more archery events.
Rental horses are available (details omitted).
