From The Page (February, 1979):
"The end of the Known World is at hand!" So speaks Torolandris Urg, Baronial
Charla Astrologer in Castel Rouge. It is his theory that,
as the last total solar eclipse visible in the Known World before the
Mundane Millenium occurs, Murphy (God of Malevolent Nature) will cause
the moon to halt in its course and fall to earth, killing everyone.
Though this theory is considered patently false by them, the folk of the
Barony of Castel Rouge have decided to humour the quack Honoured
Gentleman by holding a World's End Tourney on Sunday, Feb 25 at the
East Kildonan Masonic Temple (address omitted). The tourney will be followed by a feast in the
evening. For further information: Torin of Arcana (contact info omitted) or Alfhild of
Epsilon (contact info omitted) or Hywel ap Ridderch (contact info omitted).
Two prizes will be awarded during the event: one for the best death during the tourney and a second award for the Object Most Likely to Forestall the End of the World. This object will be activated/detonated/waved at the sun/whatever during the Eclipse at about 10:30 am. Should the world survive, a revel will celebrate this in the evening.
Description of this event (if any), taken from The Page, or from memory of at least one person who attended the event.
