Week of June 18-22
I was a bit busy, and haven't forgotten the stack of photos from folks, but wanted to try to get this up on the site since it happened just last weekend:
Old-Timer's Tournament (June 16, 2001, AS XXXVI)
There are photos for this, as well as the event writeup.
Also a couple of photos for Spring Crown, AS V:
Spring Crown Tournament (March 20, 1971, AS V)
I started putting some of the photos from a thick album donated by Sabrina de la Bere (ok, she wants the album back with the photos intact), here are the ones I have done so far. More later. I have not forgotten the photos from Kay and Hal, but wanted to get the one photo album done:
October Crown Tournament (October 22, 1972, AS VII)
Twelfth Night Coronation (January 6, 1973, AS VII)
March Crown Tournament (March 24, 1973, AS VII)

Purgatorio Coronation (July 28-29, 1973, AS VIII)
Week of June 4-8
This is going to be a busy week outside of the website, so not sure how much updating will get done here. I have managed go get the following up on the site:
Kay the Innocent's collection:
Mists Spring Investiture (May 13, 1989, AS XXIV)
Arts and Sciences Tourney (July 22-23, 1989, AS XXIV)
Principality Games (Mists) (August 5, 1989, AS XXIV)
Purgatorio Coronation (August 26-27, 1989, AS XXIV)
Week of May 28-June 2
Added photos from Kay the Innocent's collection of:
Old-Timer's Tournament (April 16, 1989, AS XXIII)
Mists Spring Banquet, AS XXIII
Added photos of Mists Investiture, provided by Branwen ferch Emrys, with a promise of some videos of Investiture as well: Mists Spring Investiture, AS XXXVI.
Added more colored images of Royalty armory provided by Aja du Jardin, and a (mostly) full set of Oerthan royalty armory, provided by Khevron Oktavii Tikhikovich Vorotnikov, as with the other Royalty armory, these are on the web pages for the Investitures ...
Week of May 21-25
Added photos from Kay the Innocent's collection (a large stack of photo albums), for the following events:
Twelfth Night, AS XIX
March Crown, AS XIX
Beltane Coronation, AS XX
West-Caid War, AS XX
June Crown, AS XX
Purgatorio, AS XX
March Crown, AS XXI ("Freeze in the Trees")
In addition to Kay's photos, added:
Crosston Pas d'Arms/Birthday Feast, AS XXXV
Wargy (Vair Couvert), AS XXXV
The Arms of the Royalty are going through some changes as well. Starting this week (although not finished), the Arms that Nicholas did are being colored by Aja du Jardin. She's doing these in a sequence that makes sense to her, so it's not chronological.
In addition, Evaine ni MacGreger has started to work on the arms (not drawn by Nicholas) for the Princes and Princesses of the Mists, but she's going from most recent back to the beginning, so you will see the arms for Parlan MacGillivray on the page for Mists Spring Investiture, AS XXXVI, and as time goes on we'll see more here as well.
And finally we should start seeing arms that weren't drawn by Nicholas in other areas by Beatrix zum Dunklenturm starting next week ...

Added arms for the Royalty who reigned through Purgatorio AS XIII, and arms for branches that were covered in the Annotated History. These arms were drawn by Nicholas Bawcock of Petersfield, in Lochac (Australia), at my request, and with much frustration on his part. The frustration comes from living in a country where armory is still a serious part of life, and quite frankly, some of the armory in the SCA doesn't exactly conform to "real" heraldry, especially from the very early days. He would send me images, I would send them back and state "Er, could you make it look more like ..." and he'd tear some hair out and re-draw it. Actually he was quite patient, and I wish to thank him for all of his efforts on this. In addition to this notice, I will be adding credits on all pages where his work appears, just to keep in line with the "Credit where Credit is due" policy I try to live by.
NOTE: If you are an heraldic artist and wish to take the time to fill in the blanks (as it were) for the armory for either the branches or the folk who have reigned in The West, please feel free to do so ... talk to me privately, and we can discuss the best approach. Thanks in advance for anyone with the time and energy to do this.

Uploaded a new version of the Adobe Acrobat copy of the Annotated History of the West. See below for a link ... this version incorporates some minor changes, moving some comments to where they really belonged (discovered when annotating the Web version from the original) ... this should hopefully be the final version of this document.
The website itself has been updated a bit to include as much information from the AHP as possible. I may add the branch arms images from the AHP to the Branch history pages when time permits, but otherwise I am done with the AHP ...

The Appendices for the Annotated History Project have been added. These are the documents that are not elsewhere in the web version of the Annotated History ... some interesting items there worth checking out.
April 10, 2001
Events listed through Purgatorio, AS XIII, for the Kingdom of the West (not the other branches), that have annotations in the AHP (see below), have been updated with the annotations/commentary.
If you are unable to handle controversy, avoid the discussions from 12th Night, AS XII -- this gets pretty brutal (and this is a heavily edited version ...).

The Annotated History of the Kingdom of the West has been added to the website. If you are interested, check this out:
Annotated History Project
This is available in an Adobe Acrobat file (details on the page linked to above). The annotations will be inserted into the text over time for the first 13+ years of the SCA/West Kingdom, but it will take time to get them copied and formatted properly. I will do that in and around updating photographs, my job, my life outside of the History Website, and so on ...
A TON of photos and event descriptions and more photos have been added since I last updated this page in December. The reason I have NOT been updating this is that it's been "too much" -- I have gone through four boxes of photographs from Hal Ravn, for example (with quite a few more to go, I understand); not to mention the ton of photographs I have been receiving from Katherine Goodpasture via email (she keeps getting photos from her friends and scanning them, which is giving some really fascinating stuff); a CD full of early photos ranging from early SCA (single-digit years through the reign of Kevin and Patrice as King and Queen of the West); and other photos that are donated by people who have the time.
Once I get to the point where I'm not updating the site in huge quantities like I have been for the last few months, I will be better about updating this page so that if you're a frequent visitor you can have a good idea what's been updated.
If you want to get some idea, check out the (mundane) years 1989 to 1992 for photos from Hal Ravn (and some donated via Katherine Goodpasture -- some of hers come up to 1998 or 1999); and earlier (again single-digit) years for photos from Kevin Peregrynne. Also check out the Who's Who section.
Other new things:
- Bardic Arts Section (Dec. 5)
- Scroll section is live (Nov. 25)
- New Arts and Sciences page (Nov. 25)
- A new layout
- History of Local Branches
- An 'Artifacts' page
- A section to put "silly" photos (stories, etc.) -- SCAers in SCA garb doing really goofy things that aren't specifically related to SCA events
