I witnessed service gladly given,
By one I barely knew.
He came and helped my family
And so our friendship grew.

 The SCA, why do I play this game?  ‘Tis for the courtesy.

I watched two men in battle vie
“The strike went wrong” one said,
“Now get up and let’s fight again
For you’re not really dead.”

I saw a fighter strong and hale Leading his fair consort And as he looked upon her face Was moved to tears in court.
