An SCA Recruiting Song
(aka) Bashing My Buddies In The Park

Lyrics by Kevin Perigrynne

(To the Tune of: Poisoning Pigeons In The Park)

Spring is here, Spring is here
Life is May-wine and life is beer
I think the loveliest time of the year
Is the Spring, I do… Don’t you… ‘course you do!
But there’s one thing that makes Spring complete for me…
And makes every weekend a treat for me…

All the world seems in tune
on a Spring afternoon
When I’m bashing my buddies in the park.
Every weekend you’ll see
My victims and me
When I’m bashing my buddies in the park

When they see me coming, the novices all try and hide:
They know that to fight me is the next thing to suicide
With my mail gleaming bright
I laugh when I smite
As I’m bashing my buddies in the park.
(La, la, la la la la la…)

We’ve gained notoriety and caused much anxiety
In the mundane society with our games.
They call it impiety and lack of propriety,
And quite a variety of unpleasant names.
But it’s good for all my frustrations
To play at rattan flagellations.

So… if someday you’re free
Why don’t you come with me
And we’ll go bashing our buddies in the park
…And maybe we’ll do-in a squire or two
While we’re bashing our buddies in the park.

We’ll slaughter them all amidst fractures and bruises
And then, we’ll have to hear their excuses.
Oh, my pulse will be rushing
With each skull I’m crushing
When I’m bashing my buddies
Though the green grass it bloodies
When I’m bashing my buddies in the park.
