I Enjoy Being An Earl

Lyrics by Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova

(To the Tune of: I Enjoy Being A Girl from Flower Drum Song)

When I have a brand new broadsword I can use on the heads of churls
I hack and I slash through melee hordes  -- I enjoy being an Earl
When I make a shot that’s dandy as around on the field I twirl
It goes to my head like brandy -- I enjoy being an Earl
I laugh when the fighters give me glowers, I bash like a demon with a  mace
I fight on the tourney field for hours, with never a drop of sweat upon my face
I’m strictly a fighter’s fighter, and my future I hope will be
By the side of a lady knight or Queen – who likes being a girl
Knowing an Earl like me

(For a long time there was only one Earl in the Kingdom of the West, Kevin Perigrynne.  There were Dukes and Counts, but only one Earl, Earl Sir Kevin.  Not Earl Kevin, or Sir Kevin, but EarlSirKevin, always pronounced as if it were one word.  So EarlSirKevin, this one’s for you.)
