Black Swan Fleeing

Lyrics by Leah Raedaelf of Pagham

(To the Tune of: Black Swan Rising)

They came armored to our lands, with nothing but ill will;
Their hands were open and spoils they hoped to win.
Now they’ve fallen to our skill,
Water fowl our pots shall fill,
The vultures and the crows now seek their kin.

          Now the black swan’s fleeing and she spreads her wings-
          From this land of heroes and the home of kings.
          Leave the Mists’ rich valleys for your ice and snow-
          Fly back to Cynagua and we’ll let you go.

Blood of swan shall fertilize the Mistland’s waiting soil,
Our war-bands ready to make the feathers fly.
Pike wounds are your only spoil,
Swan stew on our fires shall boil,
We feast tonight and raise our glasses high.

          Now the black swan’s fleeing and she spreads her wings-
          From this land of heroes and the home of kings.
          Leave the Mists’ rich valleys for your ice and snow-
          Fly back to Cynagua and we’ll let you go.

Welcome here into our hall, the feasting table’s laid;
We’re ever willing to barbeque with friends.
Share our pride in how we’ve played,
And know that in each song we trade,
We bring the long day’s battles to an end.

          Now the black swan’s fleeing and she spreads her wings-
          From this land of heroes and the home of kings.
          Leave the Mists’ rich valleys for your ice and snow-
          Fly back to Cynagua and we’ll let you go.
          Yes, fly back to Cynagua and we’ll let you go.
