The Abduction Song

Lyrics by Kevin Perigrynne

(To the Tune of: A Hunting Song)

Oh, I clearly do remember
‘Twas the tourney in September
I went out to snatch my prey
What a haul I made that day,
I abducted more women; than a lecher gets to pinch…

One fair Princess, seven maidens and a wench.

I was in no mood to trifle
Or my kidnap mood to stifle
So I called my trusty men
Said, “We’ll keep them if we win”
And we dragged them all off,
Though they fought us every inch

One fair Princess, seven maidens and a wench.

The King then did me harm, he,
Pursued me with his army
And killed all my men to give me rebuke
It turns out there was there was a reason
Taking Princesses is treason
And one of the maidens… was betrothed to a Duke

When he asked me how I do it
I say there’s nothing to it -
When you see a girl who’s cute
You just grab her quick and scoot…
And I still recall as they drag me off to lynch…
One fair Princess,
Seven maidens,
And a buxom, lusty wench

N.B. Abductions used to be an immediate causis-belli in the olden days of the WK and happened at almost every tourney… usually with the cooperation of the abductee.
