Final Make Over

"Here I'm putting the final touches to the Malachite Queen's face. The lacquer box to my left is a depiction of "Girl By The Stove" which is a lovely portrait of a Russian girl, as I wanted the Queen to have a Russian look. The shadowing around the eyes, the shape of the eyes themselves, and the shape of the mouth were studied. I also examined the flesh tones closely on the lacquer box to see how they had rendered a pale look." -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
