Blind Scribe Working
"Another shot of me working on the calligraphy. To get a nice, even appearance, each line had to be painted twice; some letters had to be painted three times. It took about thirty minutes per line. Afterwards the paint had to be burnished and that took another 10 or 15 minutes per line. I have to say, don't ever volunteer to do this unless you like the recipient an AWFUL lot. In the foreground are some of the stack of reference books used during the process -- this stack has a couple of books on Russian lacquer painting, KK Stamerov's Illustrated History of Costume Volume 1, The Color Mixing Bible, and Cennino Cennini's Il libro dell'Arte." -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
