Photo and Contribution

"The background has been painted on the vellum. The lightning bolt was made a bit more curved, as were the curtains of rain. At this point, the face and hands have been done. A start was made on the hair but then I realized that the robe would have to be painted in first, as it underlies Juan's long hair at the shoulders. His black under robe was painted in a combination of black and violet, lightened slightly with white. None of the "black" under robe was painted with straight black, as the lining of the sleeves of the outer robe had to be darker than the under robe. The distinction is not apparent in this photograph." -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
