Gregory Falconheart's Knight scroll,
by Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
"That letter B got a little out of hand. The motto is
based on Gregory's wife insisted that Gregory did not know
how to say Yes or No, all he ever said was We'll See.
I was happily painting the Arms when I dropped the paintbrush,
leaving a huge splotch of green paint right under the shield,
above the motto scroll. I was able to wash out most of it but
the green paint dyed the paper. No problem -- I painted the
entire area above the motto scroll, between the winged dogs'
legs, with white paint. I was very pleased with this fix --
until several years later when I was over at Gregory's house,
saw the scroll, and realized that the paper had yellowed slightly
with age. But not the white-painted area, which really made it
stand out like a sore thumb. Sigh. The composition is a standard
two-part balance -- large picture on top balanced by a block of
text on bottom. At this point in my scribing career I am carefully
placing the signature lines and 'containers' for the seals, for
otherwise they will get stuck any old place. Can't trust royalty
or heralds to have any sense of design!" -- Tatiana
