"How I Did It" -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova

Here To There

Here To There
I was so tired I wanted to hurry things along where I could as there was still a massive painting job ahead. Usually I transfer layout from tracing paper by scribbling over the lines from the back with pencil (for the black illustration board, it was a white colored pencil) -- this border had so many lines on it that the prospect of going over them all twice (once form the back, then again from the front) was most unappetizing. So I tried something a little different -- used a wide piece of dressmaker's chalk to go over the back and then do the transfer from the front. The chalk went on in two minutes flat and the transfer worked fine, but it wasn't as clean as using colored pencil and the chalk lines could be brushed right off. I wouldn't use this method again, but it worked in a pinch. -- Tatiana Nikolaevna Tumanova
