Guild Histories

History of the Needleworkers Guild
From the 1970’s
To the present day
May 2007

The Guild apparently began in the late 1970’s as the Guild currently holds an issue of a newsletter dated Feb 1980, A.S. XIV which was called Needle News and discussed the Guild’s organizational guidelines.

The second newsletter that is currently in the Guild’s possession is dated Jan. 20, 1983 A.S. 17 and is called the Needlers’ News and discusses further guidelines as to members skill levels and what they should be called.

This issue of the newsletter also contains the information that the first Official meeting of the Guild was to be held on Jan. 29, 1983 in the home of Beth.

In the spring of 1983 A.S. XVII, the Guilds Charter was presented to Their Highnesses of the Mists, Ronald Wilmont and Kathleen de Tara, and thus the Needleworkers Guild was officially born as a Guild of the Principality of the Mists.

The Principality of the Mists first Guild Minister was Ava Trudine of Tregoenning who stepped up in the spring of 1983. Ava Trudine of Tregoenning move out of the West Kingdom and at one time was in the Kingdom of Atlantia, where she organized and became the first Guild Minister of the Arachnes Web Guild in Atlantia. In April of 1990, the Kingdom of Atlantia honored Ava with elevation to Laurel for her skill in lace making.

The third newsletter the Guild holds is dated Oct 1983, A.S. XVIII and is now named Needler News and discusses the fact the Guild has been formed in the Principality of the Mists, and holds the hope that the Guild will grow and prosper and spread through out the Known World.

The fourth newsletter the Guild holds is dated May 1984 A.S. XIX and is named Needle News. Jania of Call Duck Manor became the second Guild Minister and continued to serve the Coronets of the Mists as the Principality Needleworkers Guild Minister for many years.

As all things happen, Guilds are born, they grow and then they rest. The Needleworkers Guild took a respite from its many years of labor in the late 1980’s and thus rested for many years.

In 1992 the idea of having a West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild was born, and so began the reorganization of the Needleworkers Guild, as a West Kingdom Guild.

The first meeting of the new West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild was held at June Crown 1993, A.S. XXVIII, with the members electing Isela di Bari as the 1st Guild Minister for the newly formed West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild.

A new charter for the Guild was formed and was presented to Their Majesties Garick and Talitha in the spring of 1999 A.S. XXXIII.

Isela di Bari served as Guild Minister until June Crown 2000, A.S. XXXV at which time the Guild members elected Sabrina de la Bere as the second Minister of the West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild. Sabrina de la Bere served as Guild Minister until October Crown 2004, A.S. XXXIX.

At October Crown 2004 A.S. XXXIX, the Guild members elected Aelia Apollonia as the third Minister of the West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild.

Aelia Apollonia served as Guild Minister until March Crown 2006, A.S. XXXX. The members then elected the fourth Minister of the West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild, Catherine Lorraine of Stonegate Manor.

In the spring of AS XXXX a revised charter was presented to Their Majesties Fabian and Eliška and all of the Guilds right and privileges were affirmed….

This history of the Principality of the Mists Needleworkers Guild, and the West Kingdom Needleworkers Guild was compiled by Baroness Catherine Lorraine of Stonegate Manor OL,OP.

Dated this date May 23, 2007 A.S. XLII
