History: The Kingdom of Caid was once a Principality of the West Kingdom. It split off to its own Kingdom around AS XIII.

• The Tourney of Union was held April 20-21, 1974 (AS VIII)
• The first Coronet Tournament (and Investiture) was held June 8-9, 1974 (AS IX). The first Prince of Caid was Christian of Orange, the first Princess was Denysa de las Mariposa.

• The first Coronation of Caid was held June 3, 1978 (AS XIII).

At the recent Tourney of Union [April 20-21, 1974], the citizens of the Principality decided pro tempore on the name Caid, a name devised by Master Concueur, which not only is an acronym of the baronies that make up the Principality, but in Arabic signifies "The Fortress." Official adoption of the name awaits the approval of the Lord Laurel and then of the Board, but we may as well use it in the meantime.
