Thoughts of a Rose
by
Torvald Torgarson
June 14, 2002 (AS XXXVII)

Praise the rose so rare and
Regal, beauty merged with
Graceful bearing, greet her
Gladly for the joyful
Light she brings so lovely;
Lifting spirits as she
Passes, press the mem'ry
Pleasing mists of yestre.

"Cyneswith [aet Caldhaefen] just kind of set my muse to swinging her baseball bat. I really wish my muse would use a lighter stick.-)

"This Occasional Verse is written in drakvaet using the standard 6 syllable count with the alliteration. Many skalds of the period were noted for being able to compose such Occasional verses on the fly, and it was considered a noteworthy skill." -- Torvald Torgarson
