Belt of Red
by
Torvald Torgarson
June 17, 2002 (AS XXXVII)

What means this belt that you will wear
Given from knight to squire?
Red itís color as your lifeís blood
Crimson as a fire,
What service will you give for it,
What honor will you gain?
Time will tell as you accept
To earn yourself a name.

No one can force this belt on you
Your own word is your bond,
The weight of it is heavier
Than the leather you put on.
If you endure, you honor hold
As on your waist itís felt
Then one day maybe you will know
The weight of a White belt.

"Written for the occasion of the Squiring of Jimena and Martin to Sir Paul of Bellatrix." -- Torvald Torgarsson
