Taking the Mantle

by Syele von der Rosen
June, 2008 (A.S. XLIII)

Unto the Western kingdom I will offer up my song
I swear that I shall always keep my voice and spirits strong
For Royalty and Populace I'll travel o'er the land
And beside the Western army my voice too shall take its stand

So I stand before you on this tournament day
For the land of Green and Gold is the land where I would stay
My song shall serve my Kingdom and my verse shall serve my Crown
And I swear that I'll endeavor to be worthy of renown

From Mistslands did I travel forth to swear before you here
Though perilous the journey, fraught with troubled times and tears
But there's not a thing upon this earth to keep me from this day
And to sing for Crown and Kingdom I would enter any fray

Let the next twelve months be filled with songs of victory and pride
For the prowess of the Western land, sure cannot be denied
I humbly kneel before our Crown and swear this to the hall
Your great deeds will be spoken and made witness to for all
