For Uther and Kára

by Syele von der Rosen
June, 2008 (A.S. XLIII)

Son of the north, don armor and fight, for the list field it calls you this day
Blessed by the gods with strength and with valor, for honor go enter the fray
Fight for your lady and fight for your love, fight for her countenance fair
Against all who would strive to defeat you, bring arms, to win roses red for her hair
Though summer sun it would seek to deprive you, to take your love from your strong side
With the help of your man who would save her from peril, the sun's ransom, it was denied
You fought through the day with the strength of a lion, though Kára was not at the field
While your lady rested all your foes were bested, sent home upon their noble shields
To Uther I toast, and to Kára his love, who each showed their strength to us all
May their days be golden and mild indeed, as they reign over us in Their hall

"When His Grace took the field for his lady Kára, she ended up having to leave the event due to the serious heat, and was driven to the hospital by a dear friend to receive treatment. She recovered, and returned to the field for the final fight." -- Syele von der Rosen
