Our little Billy went to war
and returned, named a saint
a smiling lad with charm and grace
who made the young girls faint
He won a wreath of ivy leaves
and with it came the price
To rule with law and tradition
and above all, be nice!
So Billy tried to rule just so
to make all wrong things right
His efforts came to fruitful ends
as King dubbed him knight
While Prince, he set his games aside
put all his toys away
but now he's free to pull them out
and run outside to play.
Written for Mists Spring Investiture:
"Both the Prince and the Princess were so set in individual ways that I found it was easier to do a piece for each, rather than one for both. Maren, who had been Princess of Cynagua, brought a certain command and dignity; while William still acted like the young fighter many of us remembered him as." -- Margrethe Astrid Ravn
