Waes Hael
by
Leah Raedaelf of Pagham
Twelfth Night (January), AS XXXVIII (2003)

(Refrain)
Waes hael! Waes hael! We give you waes hail.
Come share in our song and in our waes hael.

Now raise up your cup to toast to our King,
And giving waes hael, His praises we’ll sing.
Our Western King’s mighty, His strength ne’er shall fail.
Come lift up your glasses and give Him waes hael.

(Refrain)

The toast to our Queen we’ll raise with good will,
While never a drop from our cups shall we spill.
Our Queen we will toast and we’ll wish Her our best.
Give praise to our Lady, the Queen of the West.

(Refrain)

Now never forget that each Prince must be praised
And ever we’ll do this with our glasses raised.
Yes, to each bold Prince we’ll toast with good ale,
So raise up the horn and give Them waes hael.

(Refrain)

Then toast to our Princesses, fairest of all,
That oft may Their praises be heard in the hall.
We thank each in turn for the grace that They bring.
So give Them waes hael, and make the room ring.

(Refrain)

One toast still remains before my song ends,
In thanks for the blessings of fam’ly and friends.
My cup I shall raise up to all of the West,
I give you waes hael and wish you the best.

(Refrain)
