Our Crown
by
Leah Raedaelf of Pagham
May 12, AS XXXIX (2004),
for June Crown Invocation

We stand here together, to help choose our Monarch,
To prove each opponent, to test each one’s right.
Our Crown shall be won both by strength and by honor,
So fight to be worthy in your consort’s sight.

For we’ve built here a land where we cheer for the fallen,
As each strives in honor to claim our great Throne;
Where glory is earned in the least of our vict’ries
And each blow is judged by the one struck alone.

How rare is this jewel, we oft take for granted,
How glorious this Kingdom that you seek to claim.
Our setting sun kindles a light in the darkness,
And from the West’s hearth has come each land’s new flame.

For we’ve built here a land where we cheer for the fallen,
As each strives in honor to claim our great Throne;
Where glory is earned in the least of our vict’ries
And each blow is judged by the one struck alone.

Now, look in the eyes of each one who is watching,
Come see again clearly the magic we weave.
Rekindle the wonder with one look around you-
Our Kings and Queens reign because we still believe.

And we’ve built here a land where we cheer for the fallen,
As each strives in honor to claim our great Throne;
Where glory is earned in the least of our vict’ries
And each blow is judged by the one struck alone—
So come claim this Kingdom that we call our own.
