Beltane
by
Leah Raedaelf of Pagham
Beltane Coronation, May 1, AS XXXIX (2004)

(To the tune ‘Angelus ad Virginem’, Anonymous, 14th Century)

(His)
Spring is here, the sea wind calls,
“Come fill your sails,” he is singing.
Mighty warriors, gather ‘round-
With boasts set our mead-hall ringing.
Winter’s storms have passed from our land,
The wind now calls our hearts to set out to sea.
Serve our land with honor always- Serve well our new King and Queen,
And fame shall follow thee.
Set your sails to serve well our new King and Queen,
And fame shall follow thee.

(Hers) Spring is here, the soft wind calls,
Come join our dance to her singing.
Gentle maidens, gather around
To share the wealth she is bringing.
Winter’s storms and cold have passed from our land,
Beltane calls our hearts, from Winter we’re free.
Fill our land with joyous song- Sing now for our new King and Queen,
And joy shall follow thee.
Join our song, come dance with our new King and Queen,
And joy shall follow thee.
