I've Never Been to War Before

Jana the Mad
February, A.S. XXXVII (2003)

To the tune of ĎIíve never been in love beforeí Ė written at Estrella, to be sung sweetly in contrast to the words

Iíve never been to war before
I thought that all the stories werenít anything more
Iíve never been to war before
I thought ĎItís just a game, with people keeping scoreí
But this is why the battles going on:
That shield charge is a song, and out the blood must pour.
So please forgive this foolish state Iím in
Iíve really never been to War before

Iíve never been to war before
Though Iíd heard all the former tales of guts and gore
Iíve never been to War before
And now I just adore this bashing to the core.
For this is why I put this helmet on
The battles going strong, and still Iím wanting more
So please forgive the berserker state Iím in
Iíve really never been to war before

Iíve never been to War before
I feel the blood and glory rising to the fore
Iíve never been to War before
But now the armies roar beats our foe to the floor
I wonder why to get here took so long
For though I heard the songs I wasnít here before?
So please forgive this helpless state Iím in
Iíve really never been to war before.
