Sea Wind

Colin MacLear
Mists Fall Coronet, November, AS XXXV (2000)

Performed for Princess Cyneswith of the Mists

Soft sea-wind whispers by and sings of longing
For free brave bold adventures on the waves
To landlocked heart that cannot heed its calling
Soft sea-wind sings when duty’s done we’ll sail
Chorus:
To far off lands with plentiful pirates
Dragons’ hoards of gleaming gold
Mermen’s marvelous deepest dwellings
Coral castles, you’ll behold
Enchanted isles of mystic springs
Your heart’s delight they’ll be
When your duty’s done the sea-wind sings
Return to sea
Until that time beloved be by your people
Foremost from these the Prince placed by your side
With service and with art grace well your guardsmen
When duty’s done, on sea-wind’s breath you’ll ride
(Chorus)
Soft sea-wind whispers by and sings of longing
First starboard star, and sail until the morn
For gracious gifts you freely gave your people
The sea-wind sings: By me you shall be borne
To far off lands with plentiful pirates
Dragons’ hoards of gleaming gold
Mermen’s marvelous deepest dwellings
Coral castles, you’ll behold
Enchanted isles of mystic springs
Your heart’s delight they’ll be
When your duty’s done the sea-wind sings
Return to sea, return to sea, return to sea
