Eskalya

Colin MacLear
Oerthan Coronet, January, AS XXXV (2001)

Chorus:
I’ll sing you to a magic place
Surpassing in grace and beauty of sea and sky
With hearths inviting song and cheer
Eskalya alone is my heart’s true home
Bedazzling skies of sable
charged with rays of vert and gules
Matched only in radiance and beauty
by ladies who are the kingdom’s jewels
With a warmth to ease the traveler,
bringing comfort to kings and fools
(Chorus)
Magnificent mountains’ splendor
shifts as seasons’ spells are cast
With power embodied in virtuous
warriors of prowess unsurpassed
And their strength will guide the traveler
on adventures in wilderness vast
(Chorus)
Harmonious streams of silver
sing from sparkling glaciers’ height
They echo the music of bards of
renown warding off the winter’s night
May their songs inspire the traveler
to partake of our land’s delight
I’ll sing you to a magic place
Surpassing in grace and beauty of sea and sky
With hearths inviting song and cheer
Eskalya alone is my heart’s true home
