A Welsh Poem for an Irish Princess
by
Branwen ferch Emrys

Wonders grow from isles green,
Treasures bright and warriors lean,
Fairy folks with magic sheen.

Wonders grow from Irish land,
Where mighty and beauty stand.
Nothing less does She demand.

Wonders grow where hearts are brave,
Live none so fine as these, save
You who smile at us so grave.

You, of loveliness unbound,
Of matchless grace and glory gowned--
Wonders grow where you are found.

Princess Eliza is Irish, and I, Welsh. In the time she reigned, the annual Mists Banquet by happenstance fell on her birthday. This was my birthday present for her. -- Branwen
