The coldest winters in the West
Are in Oertha fair,
But in this land of ice and snow
Is warmth beyond compare,
The hearth and hearts of northern halls
Defeat mid-winters cold,
The treasure of this land is love
No need for jewels or gold. The coldest winters in the West
Are in Oertha fair,
The eagle and the raven soar
There roam wolf, moose and bear,
This land's as big as are the hearts
Of those who make their home,
Where northern lights do kiss the sky
Adorning Heaven's dome. The coldest winters in the West
Are in Oertha fair,
The magic of this northern land
Calls me to linger there,
And every time I'm given leave
I'll return to friends up north,
Oertha is my home from home
And I'll return there in due course.
