Crimson Song

by
Alys Sheffield and Rhiein Verch Aythan
January, 2011 (A.S. XLV)

You have lived like a fire that warms where it travels
Laughing and light, burning steady and sure
Lifting our spirits with sharp wit and humor
If there’s a place help was needed, then that's where you were.

Crimson, lay you to rest
On the wings of a black swan, fly on to the West.

With love and with artistry carefully crafting
Forging hot metal with patience and skill
You have sheltered community like glowing embers
Taken in wanderers, worked with a will

Crimson, lay you to rest
On the wings of a black swan, fly on to the West.

You leave behind family, people who love you,
The fencers you helped to set down kingdom roots.
Thank you for sharing your life and your stories
And no one can ever fill those big red boots.

Crimson, lay you to rest
On the wings of a black swan, fly on to the West.
Crimson, lay you to rest
On the wings of a black swan, fly on to the West.

"This was written and performed by Rhiein Verch Aythan and myself at 12th Night, 2011." -- Alys Sheffield
